With over 20 years in healthcare, Neelima Gaikwad brings unmatched dedication, clinical expertise, and heart to every senior and family we serve at A Place At Home – Schaumburg.
A Lifelong Advocate for Caregivers and Seniors
Neelima’s journey began as a pediatric occupational therapist, but her calling deepened as she transitioned to geriatric therapy and leadership roles. After earning her Bachelor’s in OT from India, she continued her education in the U.S., achieving a Master’s in OT from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from the University of Illinois–Chicago.
As a lead therapist and clinical mentor, she trained new clinicians, coached therapy teams, and taught caregiver strategies to reduce burnout—laying the foundation for a compassionate and effective care model.
From Clinical Insight to Community Impact
Neelima spent years working inside skilled nursing facilities and saw a growing gap between medical complexity and personal connection. She witnessed firsthand how crucial caregivers are as the "hands, eyes, and ears" for seniors with dementia, Parkinson’s, chronic illnesses, and mobility challenges.
She understood something many miss: Exceptional care doesn’t just come from clinical skill—it comes from empathy, trust, and continuity.
Building a Better Way to Care
Fueled by this insight and passion, Neelima founded A Place At Home – Schaumburg with a simple yet powerful goal:
To build a care team that not only supports seniors, but empowers caregivers—and families—to thrive together.
Today, she continues to personally oversee caregiver training, client onboarding, and complex care planning alongside Client Director Casey Grabowski—ensuring that every family experiences the peace of mind and dignity they deserve.
